Dafna Meitar Nechmad

Dafna Meitar Nechmad, a member of Committed to Give since 2014, decided to fully devote her time and energy to the nonprofit sector following a flourishing law career as a corporate lawyer and partner at the Israeli law firm of Meitar Law Offices. Dafna is the Chairwoman of the Tel Aviv University (TAU) Board of Governors since 2021 and the first woman ever to hold that role. In 2014 she co-founded the Institute for Law and Philanthropy at TAU putting philanthropic policy .and research on Israel’s socio-economic agenda
As a member and a board member of Jewish Funders Network (JFN), Dafna has initiated a Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Group at JFN with the goal of adding a gender lens to their own practice as well as encouraging other philanthropists and foundations to do the same. For over twenty years she is Leading the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund which supports a various of educational and cultural projects: the Meitar Opera studio for young opera singers: the Zvi Meitar Center for Advanced Legal Studies at TAU Law Faculty which has become a world renown hub of legal scholars; The Zvi Meitar Institute for Legal and Ethical Implications of advanced technologies at the Reichman University, a cutting edge institute that investigates unprecedented legal issues; Art students’ scholarships at the Nagar School for the Arts in Musrara, Jerusalem, an exemplary for outstanding Art education for the Israeli social periphery; and a scholarship fund for law students from the Ethiopian community, in partnership with the Meitar Law Firm. 
Among her many philanthropic roles over the years Dafna has served as chair of the Israeli Opera Friends’ Association (2005 to 2012); She is the first and only Israeli to be on the Metropolitan Opera’s Managing Director’s Committee (2013-2017) and on its Advisory Committee since 2017 and a member of the International Director’s Council of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
Dafna earned her LLB, BA in political science and MA with honors in political communications. all from TAU.
Dafna lives in Tel-Aviv, is married to Amir, and has three daughters and one grandson.
